8 out of 10 French people favour the collaborative economy

27 December 2015

In recent years, renting or sharing your flat or car with other individuals has become commonplace for many French people. According to a Syntec Numérique Odoxa survey on the collaborative economy published in December 2015, "82% of French people have a good or very good opinion of the collaborative economy."

The success of companies like Blablacar or Airbnb has highlighted this new way of consuming, focused on sharing and pooling goods, spaces, and tools.

Collaboration is spreading to all sectors of activity

The sharing economy is disrupting the entire traditional economy, and many sectors are impacted by these new practices: housing (Airbnb), mobility (Blablacar, Drivy), peer-to-peer services (Stootie, Jobbons).

Cocolis.fr is part of the thriving collaborative world and is reinventing parcel delivery by entrusting it to individuals.

Cocolis.fr enables people to make significant savings on their delivery costs by connecting them with other individuals who are travelling. All members of the community benefit: some pay less for their shipments, while others recoup part of their travel expenses, all while helping out.

This initiative is also good for the environment, as Jérôme Libeskind points out: "Taking advantage of existing journeys to deliver parcels is undoubtedly one of the main future segments of urban logistics, and its effects on the environment will be the most obvious" (read the full article).

A great way to save money

For 83% of French people, the collaborative economy is first and foremost a way to save money. But not only that: it is also an excellent way to meet people (79%), a way to pollute less (74%), or to save time (66%).

As Laure, one of our first users, points out: "With Cocolis, I will save time and reduce my carbon footprint! Using other people's journeys to send parcels: what a great eco-friendly idea."

A movement that is here to stay

"Our fellow citizens largely reject the idea that this is a passing trend reserved for young people," says Muriel Barnéoud, President of the Syntec Numérique Publishers' College. "For them, the collaborative economy is for everyone and is here to stay."

Indeed, 65% of French people have used it or plan to do so.
