Our tips to protect your parcels
With Cocolis, transporting your parcels via co-transporting is generally very safe (99.9%)!
The main advantage of this delivery method, sometimes also called parcel carpooling, is that individuals are particularly careful and your parcel does not travel from sorting centre to sorting centre, reducing the risk of damage.
But even on the calmest journeys, the item being transported can still move during transit. That's why good packing is important to protect your belongings.
Here's everything you need to know to ensure stress-free delivery!

A few practical tips for successful packing!

Choose the right box
Use sturdy boxes that are the right size for your items. For heavy items, choose reinforced boxes. Fill empty spaces with bubble wrap or polystyrene to prevent items from moving.

Secure fragile items
Wrap each fragile item individually with bubble wrap. Place items in the centre of the box and fill empty spaces so they don't move.

Protect bulky items
If possible, dismantle furniture and pack the parts separately. Protect corners and surfaces with blankets, foam or cardboard corners. Use tape to secure moving parts.

Seal securely
Use quality tape to seal the boxes. Apply several layers over the openings to reinforce the closure.
Packing your belongings is essential
Remember, it is your responsibility as the owner to pack your item properly: it is your responsibility. If your parcel is damaged because it was not well protected, our insurance will not be able to cover the damage.
Whether you are the sender or the recipient, make sure the packaging properly protects all your items: parcels, furniture, crockery, etc.
Quick tip: Before sending, take a photo of your well-packed item. This will allow you to prove the quality of the packaging if needed.

If you can't pack
✓ Talk to the transporter: If you can't pack your item properly, tell the potential transporter(s). Check with them if they can pack your item correctly. Don't assume they will have what is needed to protect your item without confirming this possibility.
✓ Be careful with insurance: If your item is damaged in transit because it was not well packed, our insurance will not be able to cover the damage. Always make sure the packaging is sufficient.
✓ For recipients: If you are receiving an item (bought on Leboncoin, eBay, Rakuten...), make sure the sender packs it properly. Ask for a photo of the packed item before shipping to be sure it is well protected.
