Ecology, Economy, Solidarity: The Founding Values of Cocolis
24 June 2020

Cocolis was born from a simple idea: to carpool bulky (or not) items in the empty boots of vehicles already on the road. While the idea is simple, its implementation is more complex. To ensure we didn’t lose the very essence of the project during its development, we based it on three values that drive and inspire us: solidarity, ecology and economy. Discover how and why Cocolis relies on these values.
Solidarity: a united community

At Cocolis, we believe that solidarity enables great things to happen. Did you know that the first 'Co' in Cocolis means “together”? That shows just how important solidarity is to the project. Helping people who need to transport goods at a lower cost. Allowing others to supplement their income. The collaborative aspect is essential to the company’s success. Likewise, human contact and mutual support are at the heart of exchanges between our team and the community. That’s why we naturally set up solidarity delivery during the health crisis. After sharing our idea with the community, who were very enthusiastic about the project, we were able to launch it very quickly.
With this in mind, we also make it a point of honour to offer unmatched service quality.
Ecology: reducing the carbon footprint

Our approach is based on a simple calculation. If we use empty vehicles, which already have a planned journey, to fill them with goods that need to be delivered, we reduce the number of cars and lorries on the road. Fewer vehicles means less pollution. In fact, it’s worth knowing that empty running accounts for 18.4% of the distance covered by a lorry in a year!
Furthermore, Cocolis’s ecological approach is also reflected in its relationship with the circular economy. Many people buying second-hand products choose Cocolis to deliver their purchases, and many dedicated shops use the platform.
In addition, there is a real desire to highlight projects that make a positive environmental impact. In this sense, we regularly dedicate space in one of our communication channels to another company with an ecological approach.
Economy: giving back purchasing power

Just as much as solidarity and ecology, economy is at the heart of the Cocolis project. Enabling users to reduce their shipping costs and increase their purchasing power is at the very origin of the concept. Remember, in 2014, Eliette Vincent was looking to send a chest of drawers, bought on leboncoin.fr, from Lille to Paris. She realised that the shipping cost would be higher than the savings made by buying second-hand. That’s when she thought of creating Cocolis.
Today, we are proud to say that our company has a positive impact both on the environment and on our users’ budgets.
Complementary values…
The three founding values described above are complemented by secondary values. Among these, we can mention simplicity (of use), modernity, reliability and friendliness.
These founding and complementary values provide a solid foundation for the Cocolis concept. They are the pillars around which we have built ourselves.
